David Silvestre is a natural-born entreprenuer who began his business ventures at the ripe age of 20 when he immigrated to Canada from Portugal in 1996. Upon his immediate arrival to this new country, David established a chain of Martial Arts Studios in Toronto, which had a combined enrollment of over 500 students. He simultaneosly opened and operated his own contracting company, acquiring contracts from corporations such as CIBC, TD Canada Trust and Royal Bank.
In 2004, David had a sudden whim to reward the Top Businesses of the Portuguese Community in Toronto. This idea later blossomed into a multicultural survey, Top Choice Awards, that awarded businesses and professionals from all backgrounds. Since then Top Choice Awards has sparked the creation of a fully integrated media company, Top Choice Media, and a magazine for businesses, professionals, entrepreneurs and consumers, Top Choice Magazine.
